Coast Mountain Bus Company designated routes. While data is updated daily by CMBC, the GIS Section is given the data quarterly to update in the City's GIS.CMBC Bus Route Metadata for BUS ROUTES
1. LINEABBR
This field contains the bus route number. "Regular" bus routes are indicated by a three-digit number - for example, 004 is route #4 UBC/Powell. NightBus route numbers are preceded by a "N"; community shuttle bus routes are preceded with a "C".
Non-bus route patterns have been provided a LINEABBR number that does not indicate a route number. These are:
996 - Millennium SkyTrain Line
997 - West Coast Express
998 - SeaBus Routes
999 - Expo SkyTrain Line
2. LINECOLOR
The LINECOLOR field contains basic information regarding the patterning of the individual bus routes. A code of "10" indicates that the bus routes contains only one main pattern; a code of "1" indicates that there is more than one pattern associated with the bus route - the "1" pattern is the main routing pattern.
Subsequent pattern codes do not indicate the timing of the route - the codes assigned are arbitrary. These codes (numbered "2" or greater) simply mean that the bus routes has more than one pattern - they could mean that the bus travels that pattern during A.M. or P.M. peak hours, or that it is a limited or seasonal service pattern. Please consult the individual route diagram for more information.
